New Me – Week #3

Saturday, January 24th, 2009

scale Well, it was a long week.  Full of stress and craziness.  I was worried how my check in would go.  I took myself to urgent care with a fever and a sinus infection on Friday night.  Really excited to get an antibiotic, the Z Pack and a three day weekend!!! I was feeling a bit better in the morning, but still really tired.  I slept through a few meals on Saturday and then ate dinner I shouldn’t have (and even dessert..shhhhh, don’t tell!)  Then twice this week while teaching, I got so busy that I forgot to eat my 930 am snack and once was so tired I went to bed without my last meal.all these things made me very nervous.  Although, I have started working out with a partner that pushes me really hard, so every workout I get is AWESOME and a little painful!

So, I really wasn’t sure how the check in would go on Friday.  When I got there, of course my nutritionist wanted to know how I was doing with the plan.  I asked him to do the measurements and said we’d chat about my troubles and thoughts after.  When he measured me, I still lost body fat!! I was 2 pounds lighter according to the scale and was down to 27.12% body fat, down a total of 2.43% total body fat in 3 weeks.  I also put on .92 lbs of muscle.  I have to say, I was very excited and he was quite impressed after telling him about my week (not the ice cream on Saturday, though.shhhhh!).

So, here I go, starting week 4 and ready to kick butt.  Have a lot going on still, but plan to have a PERFECT week with my diet and exercise!!!  Thanks for keeping up with me and helping me stay accountable!!! Check it out next week to see how it went for me!!

New Me – week 2

Sunday, January 18th, 2009

scale Friday marked the 2 week mark of my progress towards the new me and finally reaching my goal.  I had a busy week and was able to be perfect on my plan again, until Thursday night.  I wasn’t feeling well and my nutritionist said I could have a cheat meal once a week.  So, I took it.  I had a protein shake and 2 slices of pizza.  So.failed at the 30 day sugar free diet.but still quite on track for the actual goal!  I was worried about a cheat meal the night before my weigh in would be horrible, but it wasn’t.

happy face So the results of my check in went well!! Last week I weighed 138.8 and this week 138.6 and although I was depressed about that when I got on the scale that morning, getting my measurements was quite exciting!  I am down to 27.74% body fat!  That is down just a smidge under 3% body fat in 2 weeks!  I was very excited about that!

So, now onto week 3!  Rough start on my weekend, but planning on making the rest really count.  I have a head cold which is making the gym hard to accomplish, but I do plan on toughing it out!

Thanks for keeping up on my progress and supporting me through this journey.  I will post on my progress weekly!

New Me – Week 1

Sunday, January 11th, 2009

scale Friday was the end of my first week of my new meal plan and 30 day sugar free diet.  AND I’d like to say that I made it one complete week with a perfect diet and NO SUGAR or foods that act like sugar in my body!  I can’t believe it.  It wasn’t as hard as I thought it would be.however I worked all 5 days and ran around like a crazy woman.  It made it a lot easier to keep the bad stuff out of my mouth by not being at home much.

So at last week’s beginning I weighed 140 lbs and had a body fat percentage of 29.55.  Now my goal is 120 lbs and 16% body fat.

My meals are planned at 3 hours apart with 6 total during the day.  My nutritionist charges for this advice, so all I can say is that I am trying a new type of plan this time and LOVE IT!  I haven’t been starved between meals, nor am I too full to finish my food.  I feel energetic all day and feel like there are less mood swings related to hunger and insulin spikes/dips in my body.

My workouts are back on track.  I feel crazy trying to fit them in, but they are all fitting somewhere.  One day this week I was able to get up and do 15 minutes of cardio before getting ready for work.  I fit 4 workouts in this week before checking in and 4 and a half hours of total cardio.

And after all that work my results on Friday were.

.well.happy face

.they.

.were.

.not.

BAD!!!

I weighed in at 138.8, which of course made me sad.  But after measurements of fat, I dropped to 28.28% body fat.  So, I gained just shy of one pound of muscle and lost just over 2 pounds of fat.  VERY EXCITING!!!  Can’t wait until next week.

Thanks for following my journey and come back to see what kind of results this week will bring!

Better late than never.here is my weekly installment of things I like and things I don’t like.  It is going to be short and sweet this week because it has been a busy week and I am exhausted (read about it in the post “A New Venture”).

friday favs

FAVORITE:

max muscle high 5 One thing I can not live without and use at least twice daily is my Max Muscle protein.  I love the High 5 in Orange flavor.  If you are looking to build more muscle or just make a meal easier, this is the way to go.  I know that many protein shakes are disgusting, but Max Muscle’s proteins (all of them) are very good when mixed with just water.  Check out your local Max Muscle and talk to the nutritionist there about their products.  You just can’t go wrong with them.  The High 5 is a blend of fast and slow absorbing proteins.

Not so Favorite:

Earthquatkes.  We experienced a 4.5 magnitude earthquake here in the Inland Empire (CA)  last night.  I was a pretty good size and we really felt it.  Than an hour later, right at bed time, we had an aftershock.  These didn’t help our week any.  My daughter was very nervous and not only woke up every half hour or so, but neither did me or my hubby because she eventually ended up in our bed and has outgrown the space available.  My son somehow managed to sleep through the aftershock and through the night quite nicely.  So, big man upstairs, could we get a break on the earthshaking for a bit?

And with that.come back next week and see what I have to say!  Thanks!

A New Venture

This week I received a call from the sub desk asking if I would be interested in doing a long term position at a unique high school in Corona Norco Unified School District.  I was thrilled.  This was the opportunity to not wonder if I would be working the next day and would also pay more.  The best thing I could think about was that I would have the ability to enjoy the students and not just be a glorified babysitter.  I of course said YES!

kennedy middle college high school Well, I showed up on Wednesday morning to be greeted by the principal who gave me the low-down on the “uniqueness” of this school.  The school is designed to help students enjoy a high school experience while allowing them to get college credits at the community college.  It is a great program and I feel blessed to have the opportunity to work here.  However, on my first day I didn’t feel that way the whole time.  At lunch, I called my husband and was in tears.  My lesson plans were not very well done and the kids tried to take advantage of their freedoms.  I was overwhelmed with the idea that I may be lesson planning on my own all while trying to compete in the Max Formation Contest (which I will blog about shortly) and take my two credentialing classes this month and 1 next month.  After coming home and breathing a little (and a good work out) and decided that instead of stressing, I was going to try to have fun with these kids and get to know them.  Yesterday and today went SO MUCH BETTER with that thought.  I spent today telling the kids about me and they in turn told me some things about them.  We had a nice day and I am looking forward to Monday now (however, I still want the weekend to relax a bit.  and oh yes, do homework).  It has been a fun experience so far and am looking forward to the next few weeks!!

So here begins my new venture and hopefully the most valuable training I will take with me into a teaching career of my own.  I hope to be able to keep you posted, but I know the blogging will take a back seat to my work and my school.  Don’t leave me, I will be back!

Welcome to the my weekly post about things I like and things I don’t like.  I will admit that I got the idea for this weekly post from another blog, which I have referenced in previous installments.  However, since each one of us is different our likes and dislikes are different.  But this is a great way to help each other try new things or think twice about getting something and wasting money.  And now for the best part of the week:

friday favs

This week’s FAVORITE is:

protection for life

The Symmetry Direct Protection 4 Life with Genesis and Ultra Vitality!  The reason I chose this as my Favorite this week is because I give these products complete credit for keeping me from not only getting sick during cold and flu season, but for helping with my acid reflux, aches in my knees, headaches, helping me sleep better, and keeps me protected from everything including cancer, heart disease, diabetes, and everything in between.  I know that I have written about the Ultra Vitality and Genesis before in general posts about the products.  The things that they do on their own are amazing.  But adding them together and adding the Advanced Omega (essential fatty acids are for the support of the cardiovascular and nervous systems, blood vessels, the health of joints and cell membranes, as well as hair, skin and nails - to name just a few) and Mega Juice Antioxidant (Fruits and vegetables contain many types of newly-discovered phytonutrients including thousands of different antioxidants. Phytonutrients are believed to be the most important and protective elements to fruits and vegetables. Mega Juice antioxidant formula is a revolutionary product that offers you a wide variety of beneficial antioxidants from fruits and vegetables in a concentrated form).  The best thing is that this grouping of supplements is not only the best comprehensive grouping that you can get, but it is reasonably priced at $90.40 for preferred customers.  This is a complete 1 month supply for one person and is shipped directly to you every month.  There is no better way to help achieve your New Year’s Resolutions for health and longevity than this supplement package.  Please contact me via email at lisasurvillas@healthiestlife4me.com or you can go directly to my website and order this: Live Better With Symmetry.  The most important part of my company is that it knows how effective that its products are that they give you a WELLNESS GUARENTEE that says if you try our products for 3 months and are not satisfied, you can get your money back (if you keep your packages).  So why not try, you either feel better and love it or you can get your money back!  Take the first step to a longer, healthier life TODAY!

This week’s NOT So FAVORITE is:

washerAppliances that break at the most inopportune time.  This week, just after Christmas (that was hard enough to afford in these difficult times) our washing machine that of course is 10 years old, stopped spinning in the middle of a cycle.  So we had to take the SOAKING WET clothes into the dryer and it took 3 dryer cycles to dry all those clothes since they were SO WET!  My husband then moved the washer and found a ring and a few plastic screws sitting on the floor of the laundry room..hmmmmm!  I don’t think those are supposed to be off!  I will be calling the repair man today and praying that it is a quick, easy, inexpensive fix and is FIXABLE because I can’t afford a new washer right now.  UGH!

Thanks for tuning in to this series of blogs that I have come to enjoy so very much.  Until next week, Happy New Year!
