fridayfavs2

I am so impressed that I am being able to sort of keep up on my blog.  It has been a difficult few weeks and although I would like to mostly blog about nutrition and exercise, I like to use my blog for personal diary type stuff too.  It is a great way to relieve a bit of stress…

Anyhow…here is my Favorite/Not so Favorite for this week!

FAVORITE:

image My favorite thing this week is ASPARAGUS!  I am really enjoying eating it.  It has been the highlight of my meals lately.  And did you know it is a natural diuretic?  Yes, that is right ladies…eat it for a bit of help with water loss.  A few days before a big event or a beach trip or pool party, have some asparagus and you’ll shed that bit of water weight.  Now remember, it’s just water weight, so try to steer clear of sodium at the same time and it’ll work even better!!

Not so Favorite:

image My not so favorite thing this week is waiting between appointments for additional tests with the doctor to find out if something is wrong.  Especially when it is about your kids.  I wish there was an easier way.  I understand that we are really getting things done pretty quickly, but I just want answers and wish they could be faster!

That’s it for this week.  Stay tuned to see what I will like and dislike next week!!

FAVORITE:

100_5861 This week my favorite thing is my kids!  After all the stress and worry about my daughter and her throat/ear problems the past few years, we finally got the tonsils and adnoids removed.  It was a rough few weeks, but so necessary.  Now we are dealing with my son and his chest pain/heart.  We have appointments coming next week to find out what is going on.  Until then….WE PRAY!  Through all this I know God is Good!  He gave us these two precious children and he will take care of them.  He’s already taken care of me by only giving me one hurdle at a time knowing that I couldn’t handle it all at once with school and work as well.  I praise God for my loving family and friends who also give me the strength and prayers to get through the bumps in life’s road!

Not So Favorite:

image Well, as much as Southern California needs the rain…I HATE IT!  I wouldn’t mind it so much if we could have it spread out a bit more, but an entire week and wind, thunder and lightening as well…I AM NOT A FAN!!  I love my yard, but am totally willing to use rock or spray my dirt green in effort to save water.  So long as CA has enough water for me to shower, do dishes, etc…I am cool with having an ugly yard and having MORE SUNNY DAYS!  LOL

Yes, I know you all from the other parts of the country and other countries think I sound like a baby…and I am COOL with that!  I live in Southern California, deal with earthquakes, gangs, heat, droughts, a bankrupt state with few jobs and high taxes, all so I don’t have to deal with weather!

That is my latest installment of Favorite/Not so Favorite Friday!  Hope you enjoyed it!

Here it is, 2 weeks in a row!  This is a short quick one because it’s been a long week and very busy!

FAVORITE

image This week my favorite is getting stronger.  Each new week I am feeling stronger in a new body part.  This week it was back…135 lb lat pulls for the last set and was able to do 6 of them all on my own!  55 lb bent over rows for the first time…8 of them!  And the best feeling is when I look over at the 20ish year old guy next to me doing the same exercise with less weight!  HAHA!! I LOVE IT!!  And for all those women out there who think they are gonna get bulky if they lift heavy…you are WRONG!!

Not so Favorite:

image A personal not so favorite this week.  My least favorite thing this week is the feeling that I can’t get back on track with my diet.  I have had a week of cravings and giving in.  I am not happy with myself, but am going to refocus and start over tomorrow.  Need to try to hit two weeks of PERFECTION and NO CHEATING.  SO here goes the second try of the year!!

**Note: I had this set to post and it never did, so I reposted it on Saturday!

I know I failed miserably at this last year, but i am going to attempt it again this year.

Favorite:

My favorite thing at the moment is…( insert drum roll)pa rum pa pum pum… (horns) duh da da duh!

image

I absolutely love playing this game on Facebook…it’s called Wordscrapper!  I have actually met some new people in my area by joining games.  I have enjoyed joining games with people from all over the country and just playing friendly, fun games..  Win or lose I just really enjoy manipulating my letters and words around, especially when I manage to get a small word with big points! =)   Check it out on facebook and feel free to send me a game…I’d love to play Wordscraper with you!

Not so Favorite:

imageAs much as I encourage everyone to get in shape, become healthy and hit the  gym, my least favorite time of the year is the first 3 weeks of each year.  The gym is full of people who don’t know what they are doing, so they just lollygag around and get in the way, they clog up the cardio equipment doing 30 minutes with no resistance and barely move and space themselves out so it’s impossible to find 2 machines together to do cardio with your partner.  I know you all are thinking, “what a biatch!”  But be serious, you know all of you who have been using the gym regularly are thinking the same thing.  It is bad, I know.  But it is frustrating to not be able to do what I have been doing for years for three weeks at the beginning of every year because there are lots of new year’s resolutions ready to be broken!  Now, if these people would take it serious, learn and improve all while sticking with it, then I wouldn’t be so upset…but you know you are just going to falter after a few weeks.  And while saying all this, I have to admit…I do need to appreciate these people.  After all, their year long dues while not using the equipment does help in paying for the upkeep on equipment that my dues do not cover…since I pay a little and use A LOT!!

And so far my New Year’s goals are in tack…

Catch ya next week…hopefully with more positive Favorite/Not so Favorite’s!

Wahoo!  Here I am again.  Haven’t missed in a few weeks and here I am making it again!  I am thoroughly impressed and I hope you are too!! HAHA!!!

Anyhow.it has been one heck of a week around here and our vacation was not so relaxing with all the excitement it had.  So hoping that a little post may bring back the good karma and bring back some relaxing enjoyment to my summer vacation!

friday favs

trout Favorite:

This week my favorite thing is going to be FOOD.or a certain food at least!  I have not bought whole trout from the store in some time, but I did buy a package at Costco last week and finally made all 5 of them and boy oh boy were they yummy!!  Now I am looking forward to our trip to Havasu so much more in hopes that my hubby and son will catch us some fish that we can cook up!!  I LOVE FISH!! So my favorite thing this week is SEAFOOD.but mostly TROUT!!!  And whitefish is a great lunch time food!! And for those of you who are interested.I cook them in a foil bag with a tsp of butter per fish and parsley on the BBQ!  Fast, Easy, and little clean up!!  Beware of bones though!

Not So Favorite:

Again, my not so favorite thing is fixing little things on the house or in the house when it isn’t a really good time.  Doesn’t it always seem to happen that when money is tightest something breaks.  Well, money is always tight in the summer for us and we do our best to make sure we have enough to not only pay our bills for the two months that my husband doesn’t have a paycheck, but also a little fun money for a few trips to the lake with the boat and a little extra fun.  I thought we did a good job this year until we took the boat out and it needed a new battery and someone hit our trailer in our lot making us have to do unexpected repairs.  Then we come back from our first lake trip (where we were very good not to spend unnecessary money) and the spring on the garage door broke.  The first company I called gave me a quote over the phone that wasn’t too bad, but when the guy showed up they of course needed to do so much more and the price was double.so we sent them away.  And anyhow, we ended up with a wonderful repair guy over (who owns his own small biz and in this economy I am more than happy to help him stay afloat) who not only did a wonderful job, but was friendly and the least expensive of all the quotes we got.  If you are in the Riverside, CA area and need garage work done call Chuck’s Garage Doors at (951) 681-0489!! They are GREAT!!!

And although it turned out fine, I hate things that break and need costly repairs at the most inopportune times!

So folks, there you have it.  Trout Good.repairs that cost $$ BAD!!  Have a great weekend!!

YAY!! Two weeks in a row getting to this post.  I am on a roll! haha

Well, this is the place I share something I LOVE and something I don’t like or that I hate.  Sometimes it’s a product, other times it’s an event.  You just have to tune in each week to see!

FAVORITE:

I think I am in love with the sun, water, sand, boat, lake, beach, well.summertime hobbies in general!  So far we’ve spent 3 days at the beach and 1 on the lake.  The kids are finally at a great age where they are comfortable with the ocean enough that I can watch them from the comfort of my towel (because they only go into their knees if no one is in the water with them).  If they want to go in farther, they come get me and I am able to stand in the water with it only hitting my feet and watch.  They can play in the sand without any help (although they do love when daddy helps build sand castles).  And on the lake.well, life is just good.  Check out these pics of our trips so far:

kids and friends on beach

kids and pasquel girls

daddy and zack octopus sand castle

silverwood lake

And with a four day trip to Laughlin and a week trip to Havasu, how could life not be good!

NOT SO FAVORITE:

Well, despite the fun we had at the lake yesterday we came back to the lot to pull the boat out of the water to find our trailer had been hit in the parking lot.  It wasn’t damaged to where we couldn’t use it, but the person hit our tail light which is on a piece that is welded to the side of the trailer.  The welding is cracked almost all the way off and the whole tail light needs replacing.  And of course, the ARSE didn’t leave a note.  It is just frustrating to have to take care of this in the two days before we leave for a nice trip.  So what it not my favorite is JERKS who damage other people’s property and don’t fess up and take responsibility!

Ok, so I have been overwhelmed with school and work and life in general.  But I am going to try to post more this summer.  And since I have fallen in love with this new hair product, I figured a Friday post was a good one to start with.

friday favs

Favorite:

powderuptexturizerThe new style has a little bump at the part.  It makes you look like you have more hair and that there is volume to it.  It is the trend and yet somehow even after teasing my hair in the 80’s so that it stood upright in the front, I can’t seem to master the art of the cute lil’ bump!  I tried everything from Big Sexy Root Pump (which was ok) and even the BumpIt (which was a waste of money).  Then my wonderful hairdresser introduced me to this magic product.  It is quite possibly the best hair product ever invented.  It is called Powder Up Texturizer by Lanza.

You just wash and dry your hair as normal and then before styling put a little bit of this at your roots in small sections and tease that section a little bit.  It is going to get BIG and then you will just comb it down and style.  If you feel like it’s falling later in the day, you can just push it up a little with your fingers and it will come back.  I have been able to not wash my hair and style just as well the next day.

I am telling you this stuff is AWESOME and well worth the price!  It is a small container (only about 2 inches high), but you only need a little bit each time!

Not so Favorite:

bump it As I said before in the above section.  I tried everything and I have to say my Not so Favorite of the week is the $9.99 I spent on the STUPID BumpIT to try to make it work.  It was a complete waste of money and wish I saved the box and receipt so I could take it back to the store I bought it at. It doesn’t put a very cute bump into the hair, it really looks ridiculous.  I don’t know if it would stay all day because I never got that far.  I think the bump looked like you had something in your hair and it was a lot of work to get it there!  It looked even more ridiculous in my daughter’s hair which was the primary purpose I bought it.

Well folks, I hope you enjoyed my first post of a while and that I am able to get back more often.  As I do miss blogging and being in the world of my friends that live in my computer! =)

Ok.It’s been a while since I posted this segment.  I miss it and I hope you do too.  Life has just been so busy between lesson planning for the long term assignment I was on and then my classes.I just couldn’t keep up. And now that the assignment is over and I am only taking 1 class each month, I think I will be able to pick it back up again!

FAVORITE:

I finally found a pair of jeans that I just love.  They are soft and comfy and when I saw the name, I couldn’t help but buy them.oh, and they have short length too (that is important to those of us who are only 5′2″).  !It Jeans 'HOTTIE' Strecth

They are called !It Jeans “HOTTIE” Stretch Jeans.  I found them in the Brass Plum Department of Nordstrom.  They are well worth the money.only $68 and I didn’t have to have them hemmed like I usually do.  Although, I have to wear my heals in order to not have them hemmed, but I always wear my heals anyhow.  (of course, I don’t look like this pic from the website.but one can dream, right?)

Check out these jeans at: http://shop.nordstrom.com/S/2973085/0~2378467~2378483~2379271?mediumthumbnail=Y&origin=category&searchtype=&pbo=2379271&P=2

You will love them.  But beware they do stretch more than most jeans, so buy them tight!

NOT So FAVORITE:

feather duster Cleaning my house.  I took two days off this week to get things done here and while I did get stuff done, it doesn’t appear to have changed much.  If you showed up at my house this very moment, you would not be able to tell that I had spent time trying to clean.  So sad.  I would like to know where the easy button is on this house????  Anyone????  Well, despite the fact that it needs to be done, I still hate doing every moment of it.  I hate mopping, dusting, dishes, vacuuming, counters, toilets, sinks, etc.oh, SHOWERS/BATHS.HATE THEM!!  I really need a maid!  Anyone know of a free one?

Well.I know it was short, but I hope you enjoyed it!   Will be working to find some favorite/not so favorite things for next week!!

Better late than never.here is my weekly installment of things I like and things I don’t like.  It is going to be short and sweet this week because it has been a busy week and I am exhausted (read about it in the post “A New Venture”).

friday favs

FAVORITE:

max muscle high 5 One thing I can not live without and use at least twice daily is my Max Muscle protein.  I love the High 5 in Orange flavor.  If you are looking to build more muscle or just make a meal easier, this is the way to go.  I know that many protein shakes are disgusting, but Max Muscle’s proteins (all of them) are very good when mixed with just water.  Check out your local Max Muscle and talk to the nutritionist there about their products.  You just can’t go wrong with them.  The High 5 is a blend of fast and slow absorbing proteins.

Not so Favorite:

Earthquatkes.  We experienced a 4.5 magnitude earthquake here in the Inland Empire (CA)  last night.  I was a pretty good size and we really felt it.  Than an hour later, right at bed time, we had an aftershock.  These didn’t help our week any.  My daughter was very nervous and not only woke up every half hour or so, but neither did me or my hubby because she eventually ended up in our bed and has outgrown the space available.  My son somehow managed to sleep through the aftershock and through the night quite nicely.  So, big man upstairs, could we get a break on the earthshaking for a bit?

And with that.come back next week and see what I have to say!  Thanks!

Welcome to the my weekly post about things I like and things I don’t like.  I will admit that I got the idea for this weekly post from another blog, which I have referenced in previous installments.  However, since each one of us is different our likes and dislikes are different.  But this is a great way to help each other try new things or think twice about getting something and wasting money.  And now for the best part of the week:

This week’s FAVORITE is:

protection for life

The Symmetry Direct Protection 4 Life with Genesis and Ultra Vitality!  The reason I chose this as my Favorite this week is because I give these products complete credit for keeping me from not only getting sick during cold and flu season, but for helping with my acid reflux, aches in my knees, headaches, helping me sleep better, and keeps me protected from everything including cancer, heart disease, diabetes, and everything in between.  I know that I have written about the Ultra Vitality and Genesis before in general posts about the products.  The things that they do on their own are amazing.  But adding them together and adding the Advanced Omega (essential fatty acids are for the support of the cardiovascular and nervous systems, blood vessels, the health of joints and cell membranes, as well as hair, skin and nails - to name just a few) and Mega Juice Antioxidant (Fruits and vegetables contain many types of newly-discovered phytonutrients including thousands of different antioxidants. Phytonutrients are believed to be the most important and protective elements to fruits and vegetables. Mega Juice antioxidant formula is a revolutionary product that offers you a wide variety of beneficial antioxidants from fruits and vegetables in a concentrated form).  The best thing is that this grouping of supplements is not only the best comprehensive grouping that you can get, but it is reasonably priced at $90.40 for preferred customers.  This is a complete 1 month supply for one person and is shipped directly to you every month.  There is no better way to help achieve your New Year’s Resolutions for health and longevity than this supplement package.  Please contact me via email at lisasurvillas@healthiestlife4me.com or you can go directly to my website and order this: Live Better With Symmetry.  The most important part of my company is that it knows how effective that its products are that they give you a WELLNESS GUARENTEE that says if you try our products for 3 months and are not satisfied, you can get your money back (if you keep your packages).  So why not try, you either feel better and love it or you can get your money back!  Take the first step to a longer, healthier life TODAY!

This week’s NOT So FAVORITE is:

washerAppliances that break at the most inopportune time.  This week, just after Christmas (that was hard enough to afford in these difficult times) our washing machine that of course is 10 years old, stopped spinning in the middle of a cycle.  So we had to take the SOAKING WET clothes into the dryer and it took 3 dryer cycles to dry all those clothes since they were SO WET!  My husband then moved the washer and found a ring and a few plastic screws sitting on the floor of the laundry room..hmmmmm!  I don’t think those are supposed to be off!  I will be calling the repair man today and praying that it is a quick, easy, inexpensive fix and is FIXABLE because I can’t afford a new washer right now.  UGH!

Thanks for tuning in to this series of blogs that I have come to enjoy so very much.  Until next week, Happy New Year!
