Healthiest Life 4 Me

YAY!! Two weeks in a row getting to this post.  I am on a roll! haha 

Well, this is the place I share something I LOVE and something I don’t like or that I hate.  Sometimes it’s a product, other times it’s an event.  You just have to tune in each week to see! 

FAVORITE:

I think I am in love with the sun, water, sand, boat, lake, beach, well.summertime hobbies in general!  So far we’ve spent 3 days at the beach and 1 on the lake.  The kids are finally at a great age where they are comfortable with the ocean enough that I can watch them from the comfort of my towel (because they only go into their knees if no one is in the water with them).  If they want to go in farther, they come get me and I am able to stand in the water with it only hitting my feet and watch.  They can play in the sand without any help (although they do love when daddy helps build sand castles).  And on the lake.well, life is just good.  Check out these pics of our trips so far:

And with a four day trip to Laughlin and a week trip to Havasu, how could life not be good!

NOT SO FAVORITE:

Well, despite the fun we had at the lake yesterday we came back to the lot to pull the boat out of the water to find our trailer had been hit in the parking lot.  It wasn’t damaged to where we couldn’t use it, but the person hit our tail light which is on a piece that is welded to the side of the trailer.  The welding is cracked almost all the way off and the whole tail light needs replacing.  And of course, the ARSE didn’t leave a note.  It is just frustrating to have to take care of this in the two days before we leave for a nice trip.  So what it not my favorite is JERKS who damage other people’s property and don’t fess up and take responsibility!

Ok, so I have been overwhelmed with school and work and life in general.  But I am going to try to post more this summer.  And since I have fallen in love with this new hair product, I figured a Friday post was a good one to start with. 

Favorite:

The new style has a little bump at the part.  It makes you look like you have more hair and that there is volume to it.  It is the trend and yet somehow even after teasing my hair in the 80’s so that it stood upright in the front, I can’t seem to master the art of the cute lil’ bump!  I tried everything from Big Sexy Root Pump (which was ok) and even the BumpIt (which was a waste of money).  Then my wonderful hairdresser introduced me to this magic product.  It is quite possibly the best hair product ever invented.  It is called Powder Up Texturizer by Lanza. 

You just wash and dry your hair as normal and then before styling put a little bit of this at your roots in small sections and tease that section a little bit.  It is going to get BIG and then you will just comb it down and style.  If you feel like it’s falling later in the day, you can just push it up a little with your fingers and it will come back.  I have been able to not wash my hair and style just as well the next day. 

I am telling you this stuff is AWESOME and well worth the price!  It is a small container (only about 2 inches high), but you only need a little bit each time!

Not so Favorite:

As I said before in the above section.  I tried everything and I have to say my Not so Favorite of the week is the $9.99 I spent on the STUPID BumpIT to try to make it work.  It was a complete waste of money and wish I saved the box and receipt so I could take it back to the store I bought it at. It doesn’t put a very cute bump into the hair, it really looks ridiculous.  I don’t know if it would stay all day because I never got that far.  I think the bump looked like you had something in your hair and it was a lot of work to get it there!  It looked even more ridiculous in my daughter’s hair which was the primary purpose I bought it.

Well folks, I hope you enjoyed my first post of a while and that I am able to get back more often.  As I do miss blogging and being in the world of my friends that live in my computer! =)

Gotta hear this amazing man talk about Genesis and the science of it.

I have many friends that ask about my diet and how I do what I do.  I usually have the same answer and I am not sure it sets very well.  I tell them I pay big $$ for my plan and that it is set up specific to me.  It takes into consideration my workout, the calories I burn at a resting rate, and my likes and dislikes. I spend time working out much harder than all of my friends, therefore giving them my diet won’t help them lose weight because I burn a ton more calories during my workout.  I also notice that when I try to explain the basics of eating right, they are uninterested because it takes a lot of work.  So I thought I’d try my best to break it down a bit and let people figure out how they could fit it best into their lives.

To begin with, you will need a piece of paper to do the calculations.  Here is the info for fat loss:

• Total Daily Calories = Bodyweight times 12

this may need to be dropped to x11 or x10 if no progress after a few weeks

• Protein = 1g per lb of Body Weight

(4 calories per gram)
can go up to 1.5g if desired

• Fat = .4-.5g per lb Body Weight

(9 calories per gram)
yes, you read that right, healthy fats are important for fat loss (you can’t burn fat if you don’t eat fat!! STAY AWAY FROM FAT FREE PRODUCTS)

• Carbs = whatever remains to meet your calorie total

(4 calories per gram)

After this, you will break it all up between 5-6 meals with the last meal being only protein right before bed.  Your meals should be spaced out every 3 hours.

Well, folks!  It’s been a crazy, busy life lately.  I think about blogging often, but just haven’t been able to find the time to do anything but work and workout, so I am sorry! But I do want to catch you up with what I’ve been up to! 

First off, I am no longer working towards the Max Formation Challenge but still working towards my goal of 16% bodyfat.  Although, there seems to always be a week 6 set back.  But back on track finally and heading back towards my goal. 

At the moment, I am a long term sub at El Cerrito Middle School in an elective class that is a Consumer Science (Home Ec type class).  It has been a lot of fun.  I am half way through this job and am gonna miss it a ton when it’s over.  I have some great kids and enjoy all their personalities so much.  Right now the kids are creating menu’s for their own restaurant on the classwork days and cooking on the lab days.  We have made Easy Cookies (a quick oatmeal cookie), Sweet Potato Fries (with yams not sweet potatoes because there weren’t enough at the store) which the kids were pleasantly surprised that they liked, some of my classes (the extremely good ones) made Baked Mozzarella, and Chocolate Chip Cookies.  Last food lab is this week and I am still trying to decide what to make with them.  Then we have testing for a week with this group of kids.  Since I teach the elective class, they switch every 5 weeks and I will get a new group for a week, but won’t get to have much fun with them because it is a testing week also!
