NEWS about Resveratrol & Ellagitannins
Resveratrol, commonly found in red wine, is all over the news lately being prominently featured in magazines like Forbes and Readers’ Digest and news programs such as 60 Minutes and Oprah. We at Symmetry know that there is much more to the story of red wine than just Resveratrol. There are several compounds in red wine that are known to help protect against heart disease and cancer like quercitin, polyphenolic compounds, and ellagic acid, to name a few. pomegranates. A recent study from the University of California,
Los Angeles, found extracts of the fruit were associated with a
two-fold suppression in the expression of genes linked to prostate cancer. The anticarcinogenic effect of ellagic acid has also recently been shown in several types of cancers including skin, esophageal, and colon cancers.
